AlpWeek 2012: Renewable Alps

The Alps reinvent themselves

“How renewable are the Alps?”, “What are the renewable resources the Alps can build a future on?”, “How can a sustainable future be built on past experiences and know-how?” These questions will be addressed during the third Alpweek taking place in Valposchiavo, Switzerland, 5-8 September 2012.
The AlpWeek 2012 together with the ministerial conference of the Alpine Convention opens with a public symposium in the presence of the Swiss Minister for the Environment Doris Leuthard. After this, a multitude of activities will be offered in order to give the participants the opportunity to get inspiration from key note speakers and motivated stakeholders who carry out projects in favour of social, environmental and economic renewability. The southern flair of Valposchiavo as well as cultural and gastronomic discoveries offer the ideal setting to help participants develop new contacts and refill their batteries with knowledge and inspiration in favour of “Renewable Alps”.

The Swiss presidency of the Alpine Convention, the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps CIPRA, Alliance in the Alps, the International Scientific Committee for Alpine Research (ISCAR), the Network of alpine protected areas (ALPARC) and the Club Arc Alpin (CAA) are co-hosting and organising this event. They are looking forward to welcoming the bodies of the Alpine Convention, authorities, pan-alpine networks, programmes and initiatives, associations, enterprises as well as all interested inhabitants and visitors of the Alps.
